I’m checking in post-Memorial Day with a few new pictures of our little guy. Hope you guys had a great holiday! It was so hot here in Connecticut, but we had relatively low humidity so the day was actually really beautiful - especially in the shade! There was an occasional breeze, too. It felt downright heavenly.
It was our first Memorial Day with Harrison and although he’ll be too young to grasp the concept of the day for quite a few years, we enjoyed dressing him in patriotic colors and talking about how we’ll introduce him to the reverence of Memorial Day down the line.
Harrison has Great-Grandfathers and Great-Uncles that served this country and a cousin that currently serves. We definitely feel a duty to keep him in awe of and respectful of the sacrifices that his family and all other Americans made to afford him the freedom he was born into.
We’re so fortunate to be able to raise our baby boy in a country that is strong and free. We’re proud to raise him in a house that flies an American flag. We will strive to encourage patriotism by teaching him about the bravery of the Armed Services and what they’ve done for all Americans. Matt and I hope to raise a boy that loves and respects his country while being fully aware of the people that fought for America’s freedom.
We spent the day with my parents enjoying bountiful sunshine, a lovely stroll and a scrumptious barbecue. We even snapped a few family photos. I love this one.
Griff played with Sidney (my parent’s pup) all day and was exhausted at the end of the day. He played so hard that he SAT in the car on the car ride home. This is a dog that does. not. stop moving in the car. It must have been a combination of the heat and exercise.
When we got home, Matt and I tried to pick up the house a bit while the boys relaxed.
It was a great day full of family, reflection and baby smiles.
We know how lucky we are to have days like these and try to never take it for granted. We are blessed.
God Bless America!
