More Snow? That's Okay...

Matt asked me on Sunday if we were supposed to get more snow this week. (We were expecting a couple of inches on the ground Monday morning.) I told him that I didn’t think we were due for anything else. Well, the boy needs a better weather woman because clearly…I’m not cutting it.

New England Snow

We sit somewhere on the edge of the 8-12” mark, which will give us well over two feet in a span of two weeks. This was my car after the big storm last week.

It will likely be a similar story when this new storm hits tomorrow night into Friday, but I don’t want to complain.

Is it ugly? Yes.

Is it inconvenient? Of course.

Can it be dangerous? You bet.

Yet, I love where we live and having been a New Englander my whole life, I know that snow happens. Especially in February. I also know that I’m very fortunate to have a man that will go out and clear the driveway for me.

Snow Blower Man

We’re also very fortunate to have a snow blower. It makes Matt’s winter life infinitely better. I think of all the people that have been and will have been snowed in without a way out, and that’s pretty scary.

For me, the worst part about the snow is not being able to walk. I refuse to walk Griff on slippery roads, for fear that a passing car will lose control and hit us. I’m also very fearful of falling on my basketball-sized belly and squishing the little guy inside. On a day like today, though, I was lucky to get out for a while with the pup. Among all of the snow banks laden with sand and dirty, salted streets, I was able to find some beauty near the lake.

Candlewood Lake

Candlewood Lake

A frozen lake, snow covered evergreens, stone walls and that beautiful blue sky are the perfect antidotes to any winter blues I may have. Well, those things and this guy accompanying me on our fresh air adventures.

Griffin at the Lake

So even though we’re getting mooooorrre snow, that’s okay with me. I know I’m blessed and that some people have it much worse, and I try to remember that.

Hoping everyone in this latest storm’s path stays safe and warm!
