August Vacation, Part 1
August 21, 2012
Matt and I were able to get away for a few days this past week. We headed out to Colorado to hang out with a bunch of family and friends for a long weekend that made for an incredible getaway! Our last 3 vacations were to Colorado. Clearly, we need to get out more. :) If you’ve read about our travels before, you might remember we were out in Colorado in March, as well.
Cape Cod Getaway, Part I
August 12, 2013
It’s been a while since I’ve done a “getaway” post, so now seems as good a time as any to get one up here. We’ve been back from our 4-night Cape Cod getaway for a little over a week now, and I’ve finally had a chance to go through and edit the pictures. For those of you who like the posts where I’m mostly quiet (less wordy) and you get to see lots and lots of pictures, then this post is for you!
Cape Cod Getaway, Part II
August 15, 2013
I promised you I’d be back with the second part of the Cape Cod recap, so here I am. Don’t worry though, I’ll be back next week with house updates (the kitchen cannot be called “finished” quite yet…still workin’ on it). You can read about Part I of our Cape Cod trip here. We left off with this sassy lady. She didn’t end up popping on those wayfarers, but isn’t she a good sport for trying them on for me?
Christmas Road Trip
February 2, 2014
Back in December, I decided to roadtrip nearly 2,000 miles from my sister Melissa’s home in San Antonio to our parents’ home in Connecticut. I never blogged about it, but I did post some pictures to Instagram while we were on the road. (You can follow me @ schoolhouserehab.) I want to document the trip here now so I can look back at the pictures and remember the adventure. (Source)
Everything Is Bigger In Texas! (Part One)
October 14, 2012
I wanted to take a break from our guest room overhaul to write a post about our fun time away this month! Even though the fall projects are lining themselves up, Matt and I took a semi-spontaneous trip to Texas! Does planning it a few weeks before the fly date qualify it for semi-spontaneous status? I’m a bit of a planner, so it qualifies in my book. Lately, we’ve had more than our fair share of police activity in our quiet, quaint lake town.
Green Mountain Wedding
June 19, 2013
You might not believe this, but this past weekend, Matt and I did nothing around the house. I swear. No house projects, no laundry, no cleaning. You name it. We didn’t do it. Crazy, right? We had an excuse for being a bit lackadaisical. We were away in Vermont for much of the weekend and then had a chance to celebrate Father’s Day with my dad late in the day on Sunday.
Greetings From Strong Island
March 3, 2013
Matt and I headed out to Long Island this weekend for an impromptu visit. We had the weekend open to do house things (sorry, house!) but chose to take a mini-trip instead. It had been quite some time since we were last on “The Island,” as many New Yorkers call it. (Source) We were happy for the chance to head out to the place that so many influential people have called home - Lindsay Lohan, the Gotti family, and Flavor Flav, to name a few.
I Haven't Forgotten...
September 8, 2013
…about you. My loyal readers. I know it’s been over two weeks since my last post, but I’ve been a busy little bee around here, and I can’t wait to share all of the random updates. In time. Don’t worry, you’re not the only ones being neglected. The lawn is probably close to 10” tall right now. I wish I was kidding. In lieu of a house post, (since I don’t have anything to share right this second) I’ll just do a picture post of things that have been keeping us busy the last few weeks.
Picture Tour: Mid Coast Maine
August 21, 2014
We took our first family vacation last month and I’m just now getting around to posting some of the pictures. We headed up to Camden, Maine to spend eight nights in “Vacationland.” We were a little limited in what we could do and see with a 4-month old in tow, but for the most part, we fared pretty well. It’s absolutely stunning up there. It was so worth the drive. Some of these shots were taken with my phone and some were taken by Matt on his “real” camera.
Picture Tour: Yarmouthport, Massachusetts
July 1, 2014
Harrison and I slipped off to Cape Cod for a few days, and I have a few pictures I want to share from the trip. Despite my mom & aunt growing up on the Cape and my nana still living there, we discovered a small strip of land on the bay that neither my mom, aunt nor Nana had ever discovered. Wild, right? The houses and land surrounding this beach were so picturesque.
School House Road Trip: Amanda's Garden
May 22, 2013
I’m at it again. Road-tripping to help out with some DIY debacles in a little series I like to call “School House Road Trip.” Super creative name, I know. I’ve posted about a couple of School House Road Trips before. First, Matt and I cut down 13 overgrown, dying pine trees in my Nana’s yard on Cape Cod. Then, Matt and his brother, Nick, tackled a fallen tree on my mother-in-law’s home thanks to Hurricane Sandy.
School House Road Trip: Cape Cod Edition
September 24, 2012
After my trip in February to make my sweet tablecloth, I’d been trying to get back up to the Cape to help my nana (you know - the one that sews me curtains and things) with some things around the house. We’ll call it a school house road trip - where we do school house rehab-esque things for others. She mentioned needing some help in the garden as well as some odds and ends.
